The Pneumatic Imagination: Architectural Ideas and Applications, designer Al Bush developed a scheme for an airplane factory with a clear span structure of 366 meters that was to be achieved with 1.2 millimeter thick steel sheet supported by air pressure. With technology lagging behind the imagination, all of these projects were unbuilt.
