Electromagnetic Theory and Modeling,that faithfully resembles the electromagnetic field behavior in the physical world is a challenging exercise that requires basic understanding of electromagnetic theory but would also require a good understanding of circuit theory, and of course, a sense of which physical factors are relevant to the model.

The MoM is one of the most well-developed and used of all numerical techniques available in electromagnetic analysis, including EMI/EMC work. The MoM is very versatile; it can be highly efficient for metallic structures composed of wires and surfaces.

The Finite Element Method, primary feature of FEM is its ability to describe the geometry or the media of the problem being analyzed with great flexibility. Additionally it is necessary to understand the graphical user interface (GUI) and the input and output file formats. The file formats may be of particular importance if it is intended to link other tools, such as circuit simulation or mechanical CAD, to the EMI/EMC tools.
