It is a monogenic, race-non-specific resistance known from barley alone. The potentials of another two “kinds” of resistance, i) passive resistance and ii) induced resistance are briefly discussed.

Is Durable Resistance Against Viruses and Bacteria Attainable Via Biotechnology?he inactivation of the bacterial toxin causing the disease symptoms. A potentially more promising approach to confer bacterial resistance is by the expression of bactericidal toxins and lytic enzymes which interfere with bacterial multiplication and viability in plants.

La justification pragmatique des conventionseloped with a confusing richness of terms. Durability can be ensured by adequate resistance management. Selection for durability through partial resistance seems easiest. Selection for stability of agro-ecosystems, enhancing parasite and predator effects, may be the next step.
