Preparative Liquid-Chromatographic Methods in Drug Metabolism Studies isolated in quantities sufficient for full structure elucidation by spectroscopic and chemical methods. It can be applied to complex mixtures of metabolites of widely varying polarities. Since separation is done at low temperature, normally no stability problems arise. Recoveries can easily be checked if radioactively labelled drugs are used.

When measuring previously unauthenticated compounds, identities must be confirmed by independent means because some of the numerous urinary constituents may interfere.
