The Acid Infusion Testegative test does not exclude and a positive test does not prove the presence of esophagitis. Recent evidence seems to indicate that the acid perfusion test permits an objectivation of heartburn and helps, in evaluating patients with atypical symptoms, to determine whether the symptoms may be of esophageal origin.
