Ammonium Chloride Load Test, instead of bicarbonate (which is not available). Administration of ammonium chloride in this case reveals ability to form an acid urine of pH<5.2. This test does not, however, differentiate satisfactorily between these two forms of renal tubular acidosis.

Lectin Affinity Chromatography,Ambrosi et al., Org Biomol Chem 3:1593–1608, 2005). To further enhance the specificity of LAC, a corresponding free sugar may be used to produce a specific elution.
