Michael Braksiek,Kinga Golus,Lilian Streblowield of the sol using a particulate filler. After sintering the composites were found to be microcracked as a result of the constrained sintering and thermal shrinkage. The interfacial shear strength has been estimated from the average spacing of the microcracks, and found to be comparatively low for the carbon fibre reinforced composites.
