This means that AGC must be applied to the input stages of the I.F. and the R.F. sections and that these input stages must have adequate signal handling capability in controlled and non-controlled conditions.

Transistor Parameters,ombination of the their properties with those of the bandpass filters used in the amplifier. A possible way of doing this is to express the transistor properties in terms of admittance parameters or .-parameters.

Also limitations which might be imposed on the design due to the construction of the bandpass filters are considered. These considerations lead to a step-by-step design procedure to be presented in Chapter 14.

The difference between the two amplifiers lies in the methods by which automatic gain control is achieved. In one amplifier the system of reverse gain control is used, whereas in the other, forward gain control is applied.
