Liquid Crystals Under Shear: Role of Defects,t of dislocations in lamellar phases under small stresses is correlated to their rheological behavior and their stability under shear. Analogies between the high temperature creep behavior of solids and the rheological behavior of smectics is shortly discussed.

Numerical Simulation of Defects in Quasicrystals,rties of quasicrystals, plasticity and fracture, are strongly influenced by this degree of freedom. The motion of dislocations and cracks is studied by molecular dynamics simulations of sheared and torn two- and three-dimensional model quasicrystals.
