Thermal Expansion and Magnetostriction of Mg Single Crystals with Heavy Rare-Earth Impuritiesagnetostriction in dilute silver-rare earth mono and poly crystals. Their results could not be explained by quadrupole moment orientation only, but they suggested that also ion-lattice interactions of higher order than quadrupole and the effects of the local magnetostriction energy should be taken into account.
