Metal Plasticity as a Problem of Thermodynamicsy attempts have been made to fit this phenomenon into the formalism of thermodynamics to provide for it a securer scientific basis. Much progress in this direction has already been made. However, none of the proposals advanced so far has met with general acceptance.
