Having and Doing: Learning from a Complexity Theory Perspective,wing this discussion, I will present a ‘middle ground’ position, one inspired by Complexity Theory, which sees language as a complex adaptive system (CAS) (Ellis and Larsen-Freeman 2009b). The remainder of this chapter fleshes out what language learning looks like, given such a CAS view of language.
