An Exact Branch and Cut Algorithm for the Vehicle and Crew Scheduling Problemous relaxation which is embedded in a branch and bound approach to generate an exact solution for the problem. To improve the lower bounds, polyhedral cuts basing on clique detection and a variant of the column generation algorithm that suits the cuts were tested.

Solving Large-Scale Multiple-Depot Vehicle Scheduling Problemse instances have up to 25,000 timetabled trips and 70 million integer decision variables. Compared to the results obtained with one of the best planning system currently available in practice, our test runs indicate savings of several vehicles and a cost reduction of about 10%.
