Speditionsbetriebslehre und Logistik and the Avon (Figure 2.1) this ‘New Forest’ comprises a diverse mix of vegetational communities: only some 10 000 ha (of a total administrative area at the current time of approximately 37 500 ha) are actually forested in the sense of covered with trees; the remaining area is a complex mosaic of open heathland, grasslands and bog.

There is no evidence from these Forest grasslands that any level of grazing stimulates productivity and thus facilitates grazing by other species; all levels of grazing . yield for others.
