Flow Simulation of the Aortic Arch —Effect of the 3D Distortion on Flows in the Ordinary Helix Circuesonance imaging (MRI) studies have shown that the flow in the aortic arch forms a single right-handed helix (Kilner 1993). This helical flow is thought to be responsible for the development of aneurysms, which are frequently found on the arch. The 3D configuration of the arch is thought to affect all of these phenomena.
