Dating Proxy DataInstrumental records span only a small fraction of the Earth’s history. To extend the knowledge of past events, i.e. climate, one resorts to the study of natural processes which are climate dependent. A proxy record of climate can be obtained if a measurable parameter (e.g. an isotope ratio) that records the climate dependence has been preserved.
