描述Global climate change - rapid, substantial and humaninduced - may have radical consequences for life on earth. Theproblem is a complex one, however, demanding a multi-disciplinaryapproach. A simple cost-benefit analysis cannot capture theessentials, nor can the issue be reduced to an emissions reductiongame, as the Kyoto process tries to do. It is much more sensible toadopt an integrative approach, which reveals that global climatechange needs to be considered as a spider in a web, a triggeringfactor for a range of other, related problems - land usechanges, water supply and demand, food supply, energy supply, humanhealth, air pollution, etc. But an approach like this, which takesaccount of all items of knowledge, known and uncertain, does notproduce clear-cut, final and popular answers.
