The Planetary Systems Familyelescope did report one such binary planet with no star. For most of our history, our Solar System was the only planetary system known. Only in the last quarter-century have thousands of exoplanets been discovered around other stars, hundreds of them known to exist in multiple planet systems.

New Frontiers of Educational Research the sky. It is estimated that at least 80% of all stars are members of binary or multiple star systems. Strictly speaking, binaries are multiple stars (S 32), but in common astronomical usage multiple stars are systems with three or more stars.
