Scattering and Diffraction by Neutrons and X-Rays in the Study of Chromatinto derive a rigorous model. Data from other physical and biochemical studies were, until recently, equally uninformative and offered little assistance in the interpretation of the diffraction results, largely, as we now know, due to the nature of the specimen preparation.

“The Brotherhood of Pain”: Israelacteristics of acceptable electron microscopic data. The evaluation of a micrograph, as other biophysical data, can and should be objective and not based on artistic merit. Progress in our understanding of chromatin structure has been accelerated by electron microscopy and will serve as an example for this discussion.
