Embracing a Diverse Identity: Language, Ethnicity, Culture, and Gender and ways of thinking, promoting diversity and understanding. This chapter further discusses the importance of creating diverse classrooms where children’s unique identities are valued and where books help children discover different perspectives while gaining a global outlook.

Climate Stewards for the Worlde selected children’s books. These learning activities were designed with the hope that parents and teachers can engage with children in a culturally responsive conversation, allowing a safe space to explore children’s views or preconceived ideas on climate action and life on land.

The chapter tackles SDG 4 (Quality Education), recommending children’s literature as a tool to encourage young children to interact with the principles of Sustainable Development and become global citizens with voice and participation.

Children’s Rightsdo not receive help when needed and/or are not free to live as themselves or have access to quality education that respects them for who they are. Why are all children not considered equal to others? This chapter was developed with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) in mind.
