Techniques and Applications,echanisms of chemical and catalytic reactions, measurement of diffusion rates, etc. All these methods rely on perturbing the system under investigation and monitoring the system’s response to such perturbations. This response is then interpreted. Some conclusions can be obtained on a model-free basis, others are model dependent.

Kinetic Data Analysis and Parameter Estimation,e at reliable parameter estimates dependent on the operating variables of the reactor, like pressure, temperature, flow conditions etc. These parameters then will be used in a reactor model, i.e., a set of equations that describe the behavior of a reactor with sufficient accuracy.

Catalyst Technology for Reactors used to Hydrocrack Petroleum Residua,Co or Ni) is also described. The catalyst is deactivated by coke and by metals. Furthermore, the reaction rate is often controlled by the rate of diffusion of the large carbonaceous molecules in the residua. All of these factors have been considered in mathematical simulations of the phenomena occuring in the catalyst.
