Model Studies on Local Scourerience and model studies. Experimental methods are often quite helpful in understanding and analysing the behaviour of complicated flow situations and the information becomes quite important . obtaining a clear understanding of the phenomenon. Model studies have often to be conducted to peridict scour depths at important engineering structures.

Scour at Bridge Piers in Meandering Channels — Ied.ln each location, eight different shapes of piers were fiwestigated.Particular emphasis was placed on the examination of the scour hole development from the initial flat bed through to the equilibrium scour hole eondition.A oondusion regarding the construction of safe bridge piers in meandering channels was made.

A Comparison of the Performance of Standard and Novel Culvert Designs Including the Effects of Sedimds of design are the best possible, in every case, either hydraulically or overall. McKay (6), for instance, has suggested a novel method of design which, as far as the author is aware, has only been applied in practice in Australia.
