Optimising signal-to-noise ratio,Electrical noise and interfering signals contain a random mixture of all frequencies, whereas the evoked potential only contains selected frequencies. The objective in filtering is to remove noise which does not overlap the signal by blocking it from entering the computer system (Fig. 73).
