Molecular Alterations in Murine Mesotheliomas Induced by Crocidolite Asbestosthelial cell injury is repaired by regeneration after 14–21 days. Weekly exposure to asbestos results in repeated episodes of injury, inflammation, and regeneration (Moalli .., (1987). We hypothesize that constitutive activation and/or deregulation of growth factor signaling pathways may contribute to the development of malignant mesothelioma.

Involvement of the Oxidative Stress in the Toxicity of Iron-Containing Particles on Tracheal Epitheland particularly its surface reactivity are involved in particles toxicity. Indeed it has been shown that some mineral particles, including asbestos, can induce the production of activated oxygen species (AOS) in relation with the presence of divalent iron at the interface solid-liquid (Zalma et al, 1987a, Mossman and Marsh, 1989).
