Vibrational Spectroscopy with Neutrons,main, resolution, sensitivity and experimental conditions. For example infrared spectroscopy is a very efficient method to detect adsorbed CO (see the contribution by Maugé et al.) but it is much less sensitive to adsorbed hydrogen.

By following frequency shifts for various coverages, bandwidths and intensities, CO allows us to specify whether probe molecules form islands or are well-dispersed on the surface. Some examples of all these features are developed for single crystals and for supported metals.
