Grundlegende Aspekte zur Neurotransmission, The functionalization and ion binding properties of hexahomotrioxacalix[3]arenes, dihomooxacalix[4]arenes and tetrahomodioxacalix[4]arenes are reviewed in this chapter, covering the literature from 2000 to 2015. The use of these macrocycles in other applications, such as ion-selective electrodes and chemosensors, is also reported.
