Mengxian Chi,Xu Jin,Feng Li,Hong An in the context of the CT image which greatly facilitates the understanding of instrument position and trajectory within the patient. In this paper, we show how the method can potentially be applied to surgical procedures such as percutaneous rhizotomy. Phantom studies showing our preliminary results are included.

Medical image segmentation using topologically adaptable surfaces,ng them to incorporate . knowledge in the form of energy and force-based constraints, and provide intuitive interactive capabilities. This paper describes ACD-based deformable surfaces and demonstrates their potential for extracting and reconstructing some of the most complex biological structures from medical image volumes.

Segmentation using deformable models with affinity-based localization,ve devised a hybrid design that overcomes these limitations. In our experiments we demonstrate that this integration automates and significantly improves the object boundary detection results, independent of the imaging modality used.

Advances in elastic matching theory and its implementation,es the means by which Gibbs modeling and, thus, Bayesian analysis can be applied to the problem. In this paper, we review these developments and demonstrate the methods on MRI data, including the computation of interval estimates.

Automatic detection of articular surfaces in 3-D image through minimal subset random sampling,described which uses mainly a 3-D watershed transform. Application is done to . extraction of spheroidal joint surfaces with the help of an ellipsoidal model. The whole algorithm is shown to be accurate and time efficient.
