Subrata Bera,Somnath BhattacharyyaRainscreen over-cladding adopts a two-stage approach to weather resistance whereby the rain and wind barriers are separated by an air-space cavity. The outer leaf acting as rainscreen provides the major barrier to rain penetration, while the inner leaf of the wall, which forms the air barrier, is kept relatively dry.
