Multiscale Methods for Boundary Integral Equations and Their Application to Boundary Value Problemslution of a two-dimensional scattering problem of acoustic or electromagnetic waves and to the solution of a fixed geodetic boundary value problem for the gravity field of the earth. The computational tests confirm the high compression rates and the saving of computation time predicted by the theory.

Cubature Techniques for 3-D Galerkin Bem,checked on simple test kernels as, e.g., polynomials where the exact integrals are available..We discuss the convergence of the cubature methods together with a stability and consistency analysis in order to determine the minimal cubature orders a priori.

Rapid Parallel Evaluation of Integrals in Potential Theory on General Three Dimensional Regions, Poisson solver. Thus, these methods avoid the problems associated with using quadrature methods to evaluate an integral with a singular kernel. Numerical results are presented for experiments on a variety of geometries.

Domain Decomposition Boundary Element Methods: Preprocessing and Parallel Solution, consideration into . subdomains, where . is the number of processors to be used. Furthermore, the parallel algorithm and the preconditioners being involved are discussed. Numerical examples, including potential and linear elasticity problems, which demonstrate the high efficiency of the algorithm are presented.

Parallel Setup of Galerkin Equation System for a Geodetic Boundary Value Problem,ancing scheme is applied. It is shown how this works in the solution of the classical oblique boundary value problem (BVP) of potential theory (which results from the linearization of the fixed BVP of Physical Geodesy) on a IBM 9076 SP/2.

Preconditioning Boundary Element Equations,lve only . nonzeros. We provide a framework for constructing operator splitting based preconditioners and use it to analyze a class of sparse preconditioners. For singular integral equations, a more efficient preconditioner is proposed that has a band-2 structure.
