影響因子Boreal forests form Earth‘s largest terrestrial biome. They arerich in ecosystem and landscape diversity, though characterized byrelatively few plant species, as compared to other forested regions.The long term viability and sustainability of boreal forests isinfluenced by many factors. They are subject to interruptions atintervals by large-scale natural disturbances, and increasingly byhuman activities. Boreal ecosystem development is typically a slowprocess; hence rapid changes in the global environment may invokecomplex responses. Many industrial nations border, or lie within,boreal regions, deriving much of their economic wealth and culturefrom the forests. The response of boreal forests to changes in theglobal environment - whether caused by direct human activity orby indirect changes such as the anticipated changes in climate- are therefore of considerable international interest, bothfor their policy implications and their scientific challenges. .This book which contains almost 50 peer-reviewed papers from aworld-wide group of experts assembled under the auspices of IBFRA, theInternational Boreal Forest Research Association, covers topics whichwill stimulate further research

Fran?ois Degrave,Tom Schrijvers,Wim Vanhoofer four shading levels (100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% photosynthetically active radiation). Seedling emergence was most successful under high watering schedules, increased depth of burn, high shading, and without ashes. Ash had an inhibitory effect on seedling emergence.

Criteria and Indicators of Sustainable Forest Management in Canadaves will ensure international acceptance and understanding amongst global regions of similar and dissimilar forest zones. Implementation, a follow-up goal, will ensure that the principal objectives of sustainable forest management, as espoused by the National Forest Strategy for Canada, are achieved.

Desiccation of White Spruce Seedlings Planted in the Southern Boreal Forest of British Columbiaration and severe injury resulted from exposing seedlings to controlled environment conditions similar but less harsh than those recorded in late March and April on monitored forest sites. Positioning of young roots of planted seedlings deep in the soil is viewed as a factor contributing to the injury.
