Material and MethodsThe experiments were performed on beagles of both sexes with an average body weight of 12.5 kg; 60 experiments were done in the definitive series — 18 involved the use of extracorporeal circulation and 42 were in the intact animal. Before the beginning of the experiments the animals were fasted for 12 hours, but water was given ad libitum.
