The Biosynthesis of Unusual Polyamides Containing Glutamic Acid gave polymer of higher molecular weight relative to control samples. Modification of the product polyamides by synthesis of the corresponding ethyl and propyl esters has been carried out. Characterization of these products by NMR spectroscopy and thermal analysis is reported.

Interpenetrating Polymer Networks Based on Functional Triglyceride Oils and Other Not Yet Commercial materials will become more attractive commercially. In this paper, the use of triglyceride oils to form novel interpenetrating networks is reviewed, and other natural sources of reactive chemicals and their uses in polymerizations are discussed.

Use of the Antiviral and Immune Modulator, Poly (ICLC), in the Treatment of AIDSe transient boosts in a number of immune parameters, such as NK cell activity, T4 and T8 cells, and the expression of DR antigens on both B and T lymphocytes. These data will be used in the next phase of the study to determine a rational dose and time schedule to maximize effectiveness.

Degree of Substitution of Dextran Modified through Reaction with Organostannane Chlorides and Group nane halides is typically of the order of 0.25 to 0.5 per repeat unit. For the tin dilhalides internal cyclic formation probably occurs to a major extent limiting loading. Use of selected PTAs allows loading of organostannanes to be increased to two tins per repeat unit.
