We explain the novel concept and design of the soft backbone and its necessity for the suction mechanism. We present a demonstrator and characterize the deflection of the membrane under different voltages.

Simple Synthetic Memories of?Robotic Touchtion of geometric properties of the stimulus. Additionally, pattern completion is assessed with the generation of ‘imagined touch’ streams of data showing similarities to real world tactile observations. The use of this model for tactile memories offers the potential for robustly perform sensorimotor tasks in which the sense of touch is involved.

Charge-Dependent Flexural Rigidity of a Conductive Polymer Laminate for Bioinspired Non-thermalan ion-diffusion promoter (polyethylene oxide) amplified the stiffness response with minimal effect on actuation. The rapid response (up to 15?s), non-thermal working mechanism, safe materials, and simple control make this solution an attractive interface to various forms of life.

A 3D-Printed Biomimetic Porous Cellulose-Based Artificial Seed with Photonic Cellulose Nanocrystals ghtweight and biodegradable and have the same mass (~22.4?mg) and descent speed (~0.64?m/s) of the natural seeds, thus constituting a novel approach for perspective distributed monitoring of relevant environmental parameters (i.e., humidity).

Bioinspired Soft Actuator Based on Photothermal Expansion of Biodegradable Polymers. Moreover, the photothermal blend shows a conversion efficiency of 13.5%. Due to the photothermal and biodegradability properties, the actuator could be used as a battery-free tool for different tasks, in a scenario where no contamination of the environment is required.

Anisotropic Actuation in Salty Agarose Gel Actuatorshat this chemistry of ions also enables us to program the kinetics in a single actuator using the differences in evaporation/diffusion rate of water in the salty gels. This programmability of the motion in a hydrogel actuator with the inclusion of salts can be used to achieve complex behavior observed in living organisms straightforwardly.
