Manipulating Rooting Potential in Stockplants before Collecting Cuttingsh and batch uniformity. These benefits do not apply when propagation is difficult and cuttings root in low numbers over a protracted period. Speed of adventitious rooting is important because rapid rooting minimizes cutting exposure to adverse environments and to the diseases to which unrooted cuttings are prone.

If we are to improve upon existing mechanistic and predictive models of tree growth, or to build more responsive new models, the physiology and ecology of this integrated shoot-root-soil system must be better understood.

A Historical Evaluation of Adventitious Rooting Research to 1993within plant morphogenesis (Went and Thimann, 1937), which has made adventitious rooting of academic botanical interest. Hence research on the fundamental biology of adventitious rooting began and continues.
