Richard W. Carey,Joel D. Pincusmembrane fractions or even proteins capable of binding ACh. Moreover, a number of drugs that are known to be relatively specific antagonists of cholinergic action at other sites can be shown to bind to materials extracted from the CNS. All these facts in various degree provide evidence for the existence of receptors for ACh in the CNS.

Semigroup ,,-algebras and toric varieties, of these compounds accounts for the physiological action of acetylcholine was consistently missing. The difficulty rested on the lack of a firm theory and a reasonable method of characterization and isolation.
