Brassicaceae,The family Brassicaceae has around 375 genera comprising 3200 species. All the species do not bear oil and not all oil bearing species are cultivated to yield oil for human consumption. The oil from Brassica sp. has rich quantity of erucic acid (>45%) which is a classified toxin to human beings.

Members of this family are known for their use in medicine, gum, tannin and timber. Terminalia (. .) is dealt in this chapter due to its reported connection in biodiesel preparation.
