影響因子This book is the result of an international symposium held at the Institute of Virology and Immunobiology of the-University of WUrzburg, Germany, in October 1980. The intent of this symposium was to provide an opportunity to compare the data on coronavirus structure and replica- tion as well as to discuss mechanisms of pathogenesis. For over a decade coronaviruses have been recognized as an important group of viruses which are responsible for a variety of diseases of clinical importance in animals and man. Recently new and interesting data on the molecular biology and pathogenesis of coronaviruses have become available and this led us to organize this meeting. The uniformity and diversity in this virus group was evaluated from a molecular point of view and the replication of coronaviruses appears to involve aspects which may be unique for this virus group. Additionally, in contrast to other positive strand RNA viruses it became clear that coronaviruses readily establish persistent infections in the host, a phenomenon which may lead to the different subacute or chronic disorders manifested during coronavirus infection. Relatedness of Virion and Intracellular Proteins of the Murine Coronaviruses JHM and A59oteins of coronaviruses have been studied extensively (reviewed in Robb and Bond, 1979). However, little attention has been focused on the intracellular proteins (Bond et al. 1979, Anderson et al. 1979, Siddel et al. 1980).

Polypeptide Structure of Bovine Enteritic Coronavirus: Comparison between a Wild Strain Purified frohe variability in the data can be accounted for by the different methods used in purification of the virions, protein dissociation and detection on polyacrylamide gel. Furthermore the origin of the virus from animal or from cell cultures can possibly play a role in the difference observed for the same virus.

Murine Coronavirus RNAextensively studied in recent years (Lomneczi and Kennedy, 1977; Yogo et al., 1977; Lai and Stohlman, 1978; Wege et al., 1978; Macnaughton and Madge, 1978; Guy and Brian, 1979). These studies have shown that the coronavirus genome is a large, single stranded RNA which is polyadenylated and of positive polarity.
