Gas LasersA gas laser contains atoms or molecules. Stimulated transitions occur in atoms between electronic states and in molecules between rotational, vibrational, or electronic states. We describe various gas discharge lasers: helium–neon laser; metal vapor laser; argon ion laser; excimer laser; nitrogen laser; CO. laser; optically pumped gas lasers.
