From Spatiotemporal Tuning to Velocity Analysisy. In this work, we try to develop models and explanations of human vision, for instance, human motion perception, which are firmly rooted in physiology, and make use of fundamental neurophysiological findings in deriving explanations of human visual performance.

Mattias Rohman,Jonathan Wingfielde are studying patients with rhodopsin gene mutations using non-invasive tests of retinal function to try to understand the relationship between the molecular lesions and the clinical phenotype (Jacobson et al, 1991; Kemp et al, 1992a; Jacobson et al, 1994).

The absorption of a photon within the receptive field of a ganglion cell of a dark-adapted retina has a high probability of eliciting extra impulses in that ganglion cell (Barlow, Levick & Yoon 1971).
