Sleeve Gastrectomy,The aim of the procedure is to restrict the size of the stomach by cutting the stomach vertically alongside the lesser curvature and to shut off the production of ghrelin through a complete removal of the gastric -fundus (Fig. 4.1). This procedure can stand alone or be the first step of a duodenal switch procedure in high risk patients.

Gastric Pacing,The aim of the procedure is to reach a feeling of satiety quickly by stimulating the stomach wall with an electric pacer. This method is neither restrictive nor malabsorptive nor combined; it opens a new chapter in bariatric surgery: gastric pacing (Fig. 7.1).
