Looking into details of the smoothed H.O. ice core record it seems obvious to distinguish between several time periods:

Is the Oxidising Capacity of the Troposphere Changing?ough oxidation of the compounds to forms which are easily removed either by precipitation or dry deposition. The OH radical is the major oxidising agent and is formed from the UV photolysis of ozone which releases O(.D) atoms which subsequently react with water vapour to produce the radicals.
