The Quarter-Remainder Canonptional longevity (179 years) and its ability to outlast dynastic changes: after the division of China into three kingdoms, Wei (220–265), Shu (221–263) and Wu (222–280), the two first new dynasties still kept it in force until 236 and 263, respectively, rather than reforming their astronomical canons.
