Salem,Guo-Chang Fan Ph.D. stress to the point, suggesting, in these circumstances, that a better term would be “biomechanical absence of the meniscus.” The concept of meniscal transplantation was developed to attempt to restore normal structure and function of the knee in an effort to decrease pain and the likelihood of arthrosis developing in the affected compartments.
