影響因子Arthropod venoms have received much attention and have played an important role in folklore and medicine since ancient times. Scorpion envenomation, "tarant- ism," bee and wasp stings are among those subjects about which most has been speculated and written in the past. In the last 50 years or so, a great number of scientific papers have been devoted to arthropod venoms, but only a few volumes have been designed to collect this rapidly increasing material, and these are not recent. Of late, the chemistry and mode of action of several arthropod venoms have been thoroughly studied, and some of these substances will probably be used as pharmacological tools and also as therapeutic agents. The aim of the present volume is to collect in manual form new information as well as the old notions on arthropod venoms. Even though it was our intention to present a volume on arthropod venoms, and not on venomous arthropods, inevitably we were forced to include information on venom-producing organisms as well. Towards first-order concurrent ,,distribution of tick paralysis and to the symptomatology of the disease being described. The area of distribution of the disease has no doubt changed and is changing, and there are reports of the virulence of the tick venom increasing in some places.

The Places and Tools of Execution,his beak is derived from the elongated labium. The haustellum constitutes a sheath for the stylet-like maxillae and mandibles: when the beak pierces plant or animal tissue, salivary fluids are forced into the tissue along one tube and the partially digested materials are withdrawn through the other.

Venoms of Crustacea and Merostomata,g these crustaceans, however, the sand crab, ., is the only species whose toxin has been to some extent experimentally examined (SOMMER, 1932; SOMMER and MEYER, 1937). In this chapter only the reports based on experimental data will be reviewed; the older literature above will not be discussed, in order to avoid overlapping.

Fermat’s Last Theorem: From Fermat to Wileszation of prey. Chemical studies have been done on the secretion of only one whip scorpion and relatively few opilionids. Nothing is known about the chemistry of pseudoscorpion venom. The summary that follows stresses the more recent work.
