Audio Effects is where the Arduino takes in sound, manipulates it in some way, and then outputs the sound, all as a continuous process. While the lack of read/write memory on the Arduino Uno severely limits what can be done in this respect, with the addition of a few extra chips, you can create many startling audio effects.

The trick to producing other wave shapes and therefore different sounding noises is to have some mechanism to generate not only one intermediate level between high and low but many.
