Sebastian Gawron,Sebastian Gerthh better lasers, as far as intensity, spectral purity and reliability are concerned. If one can achieve tunability on the molecular side, for example by Zeeman, -Stark or Doppler-effeet, a stepwise tunable laser, such as the a molecular gas laser with its rotational manyfold may be a very good compromise.
