The Uncanniness of Conflicting Moral NormsIn this chapter, I use Helen Cixous’ text on Freud’s repression of repression in “The Uncanny” to guide my argument that moral instability is a repressed knowledge that is further repressed in its acknowledgment. I find traces in Freud’s text of his uncomfortable but growing realization that cultural and moral norms are not objective.
