Alfentanil,Alfentanil is a new tetrazole derivative of fentanyl which appears pharmacodynamically similar to the parent drug but which has a more rapid onset and shorter duration of action. It is being tested as an anesthetic supplement, an induction agent, and a postoperative analgesic.

Sufentanil,Sufentanil is a potent thienyl derivative of fentanyl which is intended for intraoperative use, especially as an analgesic anesthetic for major surgical procedures. It has recently been approved for this indication in the United States.
