Education and Capabilities in Bangladeshss in Bangladesh, and which are not. I argue that education cannot be regarded as a basic capability unless it specifically addresses the process of developing the capabilities necessary to live a life one has reason to value.

Measuring Capabilities: An Example from Girls’ Schooling reference to gender concerns, I explore how the capability approach could be employed to investigate further how different capabilities are gained from different types of formal education, with particular attention to the confirmation or elimination of gender stereotypes through education.
