Chemistry of aluminum mixed oxides with other elements, and as complex aluminosilicates such as micas and feldspars. Among the minerals are the gemstones: the hard (second to diamonds) corundum oxides, ruby (trace of Cr) and sapphire (trace of Co); the basic copper phosphate, turquoise; and the silicates, emerald, topaz, and garnet.

Experimental aluminum induced bone diseasets have been produced in the various experimental models of aluminum intoxication. The importance of these animal models is not that they accurately reproduce the disease but that they are useful in studying the mechanisms of bone aluminum toxicity.

Sources of aluminumminum concentration in deep soil and springs are negligible in the forests of Washington, the concentrations increase to 602 μg/l (67 μEq/l) in New Hampshire where excess sulfuric acid is found in the rain. Such leaching is a modern phenomenon [2].
